The Reading League California is excited to partner with the California Reading Coalition to cosponsor the CALIFORNIA READING SUMMIT 2024 live and virtual on Wednesday, November 13th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm PST.
This annual virtual summit brings literacy leaders together to share successes, challenges, and proven ways they are “moving the needle” on early literacy.
You will hear from State Board President Linda Darling-Hammond, Science of Reading podcast host Susan Lambert, and districts across the state and across the country who have bold and successful reading initiatives!
This year’s speakers were selected because their data shows that instructional shifts that follow the science of reading are working, based on student outcomes.
Join this informative event to learn how lasting change can be created for students in your school or district.
The California Reading Summit is free but registration is required and space is limited.
This event is live and virtual from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm PST
on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

- This inviting book is a bridge between two major strands of reading instruction that are often held in opposition
- Although the current climate of literacy instruction positions these approaches as diametrically opposed, the authors Young, Paige, and Rasinski describe how teachers can use the science of reading to engage students in artful, engaging, and authentic instruction.
- The authors reveal how effective teaching is a dynamic process that requires agency and creativity and show how teachers make artful shifts based on the needs of students in specific contexts. Chapters include a range of examples and explanations of how artful teaching is integrated into reading instruction and how it can increase students motivation and positive attitudes toward reading.
