A native of Fresno, Armida is a first generation, second language learner, born to migrant parents from Mexico. Armida graduated from California State University, Fresno with a B. A. in Sociology, and a Liberal Arts degree along with a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, from National University, Fresno.

In the area of education, Armida has worked as a bilingual classroom teacher and administrator of State and Federal programs. Prior to her retirement, Armida supervised Adult Education and Parent Engagement Programs in the Golden Plains School District. In the area of community service, Armida has managed National AmeriCorps Service supporting at-risk students and implementing volunteer programs for nonprofit organizations.

Armida is the author of Brave Lolis Learns English and Brave Lolis’ Box of Hope. Her focus is on the academic and emotional challenges that English Learners face every day.
