2024 Coretta Scott King Author Award goes to Ibi Zoboi for “Nigeria Jones”

The Coretta Scott King Book Author Award recognizing an African American author went to Ibi Zoboi for “Nigeria Jones.” The book was published by Balzer + Bray (HarperCollins Publishers). This award is given by the American Library Association each year. In addition to the Author award, there is also an Illustrator  award.

In addition, there were three Honor Titles as well:

  • “Big” (Vashti Harrison)
  • “How Do You Spell Unfair?: Magnolia Cox and the National Spelling Bee” (Carole Boston Weatherford)
  •   “Kin: Rooted in Hope” (Carole Boston Weatherford)
