Our opening keynote on Friday, January 31 is John Schu!
John Schu has made a career out of advocating for the people and things he cares about most: kids, books, and the people who connect them. He is the children’s librarian for Bookelicious and the New York Times best-selling author of Louder Than Hunger; This Is a School, illustrated by Veronica Miller Jamison; This Is a Story, illustrated by Caldecott Honor artist Lauren Castillo; Ruthie Rose’s Big Idea, illustrated by Holly Hatam (publishing in March 2025); and The Gift of Story: Exploring the Affective Side of the Reading Life. John Schu lives in Naperville, Illinois.
Our closing keynote on Sunday, February 1 is Mychal Threets!
Mychal Threets is a librarian, literary ambassador, and the library’s number one fan (according to himself, admittedly). He got his first library job as a library shelver at the library he grew up in and worked his way up to become Supervising Librarian of that very same library. He talks about mental health in hopes that it’ll help others in their mental health journey. He is a recipient of the 2024 “I Love My Librarian” award from the American Library Association, is one of School Library Journal’s 2024 Movers and Shakers, and one of TIME Magazine’s 2024 Next Generation Leaders.

Instructional Media Resource Associate (IMRA) Certification
9:15 AM – 12:45 PM Thursday, January 30 followed by 8 weeks of online coursework.
Expand your skills and elevate your expertise with the IMRA Certification. Developed by San Diego County Office of Education for K-12 school library staff, the IMRA course is one of the few professional learning opportunities for library technicians and classified staff members.
Refund policy: Cancellations by December 31 will receive a 50% refund. No refunds beginning January 1, 2024.
